God sees God knows and God cares

GENESIS 16:1-14

A few months ago a story was told of a family that lives in Trenton, New Jersey. It was a family of six. A father, a mother, and four little children. Due to economy and the mortgage crisis, this family faced eviction from their home in the heart of winter. One night, the oldest of the children who was ten years old saw his mother praying and crying to the Lord for help.  The little boy asked his mother why she was wasting time praying. He said why don’t we call Uncle Robert. He knows what we are going through. The little boy said Uncle Robert is always talking about all the money he has, why don’t we ask him for help. His mother turned around to him and said, Uncle Robert knows but he does not care. She said I am talking to someone that knows and He cares, and He has the power to turn our situation around.

There is someone today that is going through. You have been going through some things and it has caused you to wonder if God sees what is happening to you. Someone is asking the question that has been in the mouth and the mind of people for years.

Why is his happening to me?

Why don’t I have someone to share my life with?

Why I am not loved?

Why am I sick?

Why? Why? Why?

I just don’t have an answer to those questions. But I know that we serve a God that sees and He cares.

I came by to tell you today that God knows and He sees and is aware of everything that goes on in the life of His children.

Our text is in the 16th chapter of the book of Genesis. We see Hagar, the handmaiden of Sarah, alone and frightened. She has convinced herself that God is nowhere around. But in her time of trials and trouble, God knew exactly where she was. He saw every move she made and He came to give her comfort and give her hope. When God showed up right in the middle of Hagar’s nightmare, she was in total awe that the Almighty God had His eye on a little person like herself. She was amazed that God cared about her. She was so thankful and gracious that she calls God, El-Roi: The God that Sees Me!

I want everyone in here today to know that the same God who saw Hagar, has His eye on you today. He knows where you are. He sees what you are going through.

That is what I want to preach about today. GOD SEES! GOD KNOWS! And GOD CARES!

I know to trust and believe that God not only sees what we are going through, but He also cares. O want us to know what David meant in Psalm 17:8 when he said that we are: THE APPLE OF HIS EYE.

God knows everything because He is Omniscience. This means that He possesses total knowledge about everything that there is to know I can prove this in four areas.

The Greeks in Biblical times called God “Theos”. This word comes from a Greek word that means  “The One Who Sees”. God is Who He is because He is able to see all of His creation at once.

God knows everything not only because of Who He is, but also because of where He is. Listen to Psalm 139:7-10

(7) Whiter Shall I go from thy spirit? Or wither shall I flee from thy presence.

(8) If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: If I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.

(9) If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the utter-most parts of the sea:

(10) Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.

God is never far from u, He is always with us. And He observes everything that we do and watches everything that happens to us.

God is in us, around us, beneath us, and above us. It would be easier to escape from your own skin than it would be to escape from God. He knows all because He sees all!

God knows everything because He is God.

God knows everything because He is everywhere.

God knows everything because He controls everything.

God knows what will take place even before it happens.

People have always asked the question: how does God know what will happen before it happens? God knows because He plans everything. Nothing can happen in this world unless it is a part of His eternal, perfect, and unstoppable plan. We may not understand those things when they happen, but we must trust in what Romans 8:28 says: AND WE KNOW THAT ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR GOOD TO THEM THAT LOVE GOD, TO THEM WHO ARE CALLED ACCORDING TO HIS PURPOSE.

A God who plans all things is able to know all things.

  1. II.                  CONSEQUENCES THAT HE KNOWS

The God that we serve is an omniscience God. He sees all things all of the time. Now, what does that mean for us?

When God sees and looks at us, He sees us as if there was not another person in the world. That my brothers and sisters is an awesome attribute of God. As I look out at you I can see a group of you, but I can not concentrate on all of you at once. I would have to look at one person at a time in order to be focused totally on that person. God has the power and the ability to see all things at the same time and still give each person His full attention. Can you use your Holy imagination with me?

Just imagine that there was no sun, stars or heavenly bodies; there were no tress; flowers or any other type of vegetation; there was no other people or animals or living creatures on the earth. There was nothing else except for you and God and He had His ex-ray eyes zoomed in on just you.  Well, that is exactly how it is now!!! You have all of His undivided attention, right now!!!
